The next year, she became the youngest player to make the cut in an LPGA event. Even though she is young, Michelle loves what she is doing. And of course, she does her best all the time!

Michelle Wie was born on October 11, 1989 in Hawaii to Korean parents. She started playing golf when she was only 4 years old. Even at that young age, she was very good at it! When she was 10 years old, she became very famous in Hawaii. She made her debut in the PGA (Professional Golfers¡¯ Association)¹Ì±¹³²ÀÚÇÁ·Î°ñÇÁÇùȸ tour event held in Hawaii. Her swing was smooth and powerful. The world was very surprised to see the young golfing genius.

In 2000, she became the youngest girl to ever qualify for a USGA (United States Golf Association)¹Ì±¹ °ñÇÁ Çùȸ event. In 2002, Michelle made history again by qualifying for the LPGA¡¯s Takefuji Classic. She became the youngest golfer to ever do so. She became very famous not only in the U.S. but also internationally. Sadly, she missed the cut, but it was a good learning experience for her.

Michelle turned pro just after her 16th birthday. She played well in her first event as a pro, the 2005 Samsung World Championship. In 2006, she continued her pro career. She finished in the top 10 in every LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)¹Ì±¹¿©ÀÚ °ñÇÁ Çùȸ event she played. Also, she managed to make the cut on a men¡¯s tour! So far, Pak Se-ri and Michelle Wie are the only living women to make the cut at a men¡¯s tour event.

Michelle graduated from high school in 2007. In the fall of that year, she went to Stanford University. That year, she had a hard time on the golf course. She hurt her wrist after a fall and couldn¡¯t play golf for several months. By the end of 2008, she had not won a single professional tournament.

However, in 2009, Michelle will be a member of the LPGA Tour. Her fans all over the world are hoping that she will make history again this year. Way to go, Michelle!
