Kim Yu-na is one of the most famous and talented figure skaters in the world. So far, she has so many medals. In March 2009, she became the world champion! She finally beat her Japanese rival Asada Mao. Now she has fans all over the world. Even people in Japan think she is great! She is the first Korean figure skater to win a medal at the World Championships.

Kim Yu-na was born on September 5, 1990 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do. She started learning skating when she was 6 years old. Even though she was very young, she practiced very hard. In 2002, she participated in an international competition for the first time. She won a gold medal at the Triglav Trophy. The Triglav Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition held in the spring in Slovenia.

In 2003, she became the youngest female to win the senior title at the South Korean Figure Skating Championships. She was 12 years old. The same year, she won her second international competition at the Golden Bear of Zagreb in Croatia.

When she was 14 years old, Yu-na won at the 2005 World Junior Figure Skating Championship. She showed off her wonderful skating skills at the competition. female, she became famous for her artistic performances. She also became known for her fast speed on the ice. Soon, Yu-na became a world-famous figure skater.

In 2006, she moved to Toronto, Canada for training. Her coach is Brian Orser. He was a famous professional figure skater before. In fact, he is one of the most successful skaters in Canada¡¯s history. He won 8 national titles, two Olympic medals, and a world title.

On March 28, 2009, Yu-na did something really great. She won a gold medal for the first time in Korean history at the World Figure Skating Championships. She showed off her beautiful skating skills to the world. Her performance was very powerful. She finished with a record 207.71 points and won the world title.

¡°Even with a little mistake, I was able to do well. Being the world champion was my dream and I just did it. So it¡¯s just amazing,¡± she said after winning the competition. ¡°Now, I plan to practice for the Olympics.¡±

This spring, Yu-na entered Korea University. But she continues her training in Canada. We are very proud of you, Yu-na! Way to go!
