People in many countries believe that chicken soup is good for the body and soul. Chinese people think even pandas sometimes need chicken soup to stay healthy! In fact, the Wuhan Zoo in central China has been feeding its two pandas home-cooked chicken soup twice a month to reduce stress and give them a nutritional boost.
A zoo official said the two 3-year-old pandas - Xiwang and Weiwei - often feel tired. This is because so many people come to see them during the weekends. The visitors often shout to get the pandas¡¯ attention. As a result, the two animals can¡¯t get enough sleep and feel so much stress.

To help the pandas feel better, the zookeepers decided to give them home-made chicken soup. In China, drinking slow-cooked chicken soup for health is a tradition. ¡°We felt it would be good to give them the soup because they were tired and had a bit of a shock,¡± said the zookeepers. They boiled chickens in water overnight and added a pinch of salt to make it taste better.

Last week, the pandas were served 1 kilogram of soup in giant dishes. Pandas usually eat bamboo. But they can also eat meat. In the wild, they sometimes catch insects and small birds. So, do you think they liked the chicken soup? Yes, they loved it very much! And after drinking the soup, they became healthy again. Aren¡¯t you glad to hear that they are ok now? The giant panda is a national symbol of China and it has to stay healthy!
