Today, many countries in the world are suffering from the global economic crisis. Sadly, many people have lost their jobs and become homeless. But luckily, they can get food from soup kitchens. A soup kitchen is a place where free soup or other food is given to people with no money or no homes.
To our surprise, a soup kitchen only for dogs has recently opened its doors in Berlin, Germany. It provides pet dogs of the homeless with a free meal. Many animal food companies are supporting the soup kitchen.

The launch met with much criticism because many people think it may be more sensible to collect money for humans rather than for dogs. But the director of the establishment Claudia Hollm believes that feeding dogs is also very important.
¡°Nowadays people underestimate dogs. They are very important for those who lack social contact with other humans,¡± she said. ¡°Making sure dogs don¡¯t go hungry is just as important as making sure that people don¡¯t starve.¡±
