Mouse, the most famous mouse in the world,
celebrated his 80th birthday
on November 18. Yes, he is 80 years old now! The lovely mouse was
created in 1928 by Walt Disney.
Disney sketched the cute character
while travelling on a train. At first, he called the mouse
“Mortimer.” But he changed the name to “Mickey” because his wife preferred the name. Mickey
Mouse made his screen debut on November 18, 1928 at a theater in New
York as star of the first sound cartoon Steamboat Willie.
Mickey has since gone on to star in
120 different cartoons. He even had his own television show called “The Mickey Mouse
Club.” The show was the starting point for many stars
like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
Despite his old age, Mickey
Mouse is still loved by people all over the world. In fact, Mickey Mouse is
still Walt Disney’s most famous character! In 1932, Walt Disney received a special Academy Award for
creating the adorable mouse.
