Frogs started living on Earth a long time ago when dinosaurs were still walking
around!
▶ There are about 5,000 kinds of frogs in the world
and each one has a different color.
▶ Frogs are amphibians and cold-blooded.
▶ Only male frogs can croak.
▶ Every frog species makes its own unique sound.
▶ You can tell a male frog from a female by looking at its
ears. The ears are right behind the frog’s eyes. If
the ears are as big as the eyes, the frog is a boy. If the ears are
smaller than the frog’s eyes, the frog is a girl.
▶ Frogs don’t drink water with their mouths. They drink it through their skin.
▶ Frogs sleep in the wintertime.
▶ When frogs sleep in the winter, their bones form rings like trees. You can
tell how old a frog is by counting the rings inside the frog’s bones.
▶ Frogs can live from 4 to 15 years. |
