Horses
are lovely. They are very friendly, too. In the past,
they worked very hard for humans. When there were no cars, they used to carry people everywhere. They can run
very fast. This is because they have long and swift legs.
Horses also have long, beautiful tails. When they run, their
long tails fly in the wind and it¡¯s a very beautiful sight! But do you know who
has the longest tail? If you want to know, just take a look at the pictures.
Her name is Summer Breeze. She is a mare living in Kansas in
the U.S. Recently, she was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records
as having the longest recorded horse tail in the world!
So, how long is her tail? Don¡¯t be surprised. It¡¯s about
3.7 meters long! The 11-year-old horse was born with a normal sized tail. But as
she aged, her tail kept on growing.
Her owner, Crystal Socha, combs out and shampoos the horse¡¯s tail
once every two months. It takes her about 3 hours! In the summer,
it takes a lot longer. Even though it¡¯s hard work, Crystal enjoys
doing it. ¡°She¡¯s my little queen. She knows it, too,¡± said Crystal
with a big smile.
You are very lucky to have such a nice owner, Summer Breeze! |
