Did
you have lots of fun at Christmas? I hope everyone got a nice gift from Santa. Christmas
has already passed and we have to wait another year to meet him. But
wait! I have good news for you. You can still meet Santa in Harbin,
China! What am I talking about?
Just take a look at the pictures.
The Chinese northern city is building the world¡¯s largest Santa ice
sculpture! The huge Santa will be 160 meters
long and 24 meters high.
He will be completed with a nice-looking beard and a hat.
Harbin is one of China¡¯s coldest places. The city¡¯s winter temperatures can drop to below minus 35 degrees Celsius. The city holds a world-famous ice
festival every year. The
festival runs from mid-December to early February.
Sadly, however, this year,
the ice sculptures are melting very fast due to the effects of global warming. Sculptors say that the snow
and ice melt more quickly than in the past.
In order to make the giant ice Santa, sculptors
have to make snow artificially.
Still, countless tourists are coming to see
the world¡¯s biggest Santa from all over the country and the world.
I want to go there to see him, too! Don¡¯t you? |
