There are three kinds of zebra: the Plains
Zebra, the Mountain Zebra and the Grevy’s Zebra.
★ Zebra species are differentiated
by their stripes.
★ The Grevy’s Zebra is the biggest and the oldest type of zebra.
★ The Mountain Zebra is the smallest zebra. It is an endangered species.
★ Zebras are smaller than horses but their ears are larger than horses.
★ Each zebra has a unique pattern of stripes.
★ Zebra babies are born brown and white, instead of black and white.
★ Zebras can run an hour after they are born.
★ Zebras have great eyesight and it is believed
that they can see in color.
★ Zebras have a very good sense of smell.
★ Zebras mainly feed on grass. But they also eat
twigs, leaves and bark.
★ When asleep, zebras don’t lie down.
On average, zebras can live
up to 20 to 30 years in the
wild. |
