Number 1 Speed-eater in Trouble!
 One
special man in Japan who set a world record by eating
dozens of hot dogs within minutes suffered a bad injury to his jaw. His name is Takeru Kobayashi,
a 29-year-old who has won 7 eating contests in the U.S. Sadly,
while he was preparing for the upcoming hot dog eating contest
in New York, he hurt his jaw. Takeru said
his jaw was in bad condition for some time. But he ignored the pain and kept on practicing.
So, now he can’t move his jaws at all. And the eating monster
can’t even put a small candy in his mouth. Will he be able to compete in the upcoming contest?
Well, Takeru said he will try his best to recover in time. Last year, Takeru
put down a world record of
53 and 3/4 hot dogs in just 12 minutes! Let’s hope the Japanese hero
can make a come back and keep his champion status.
What a Long Name!
 Most Westerners have a middle name. And there are
some with a long middle name. But can you imagine somebody having
25 middle names? Recently, a baby girl born
in London was given 25 middle names. This was done to keep up with the family’s
unique tradition. The baby’s full
name is Autumn Sullivan Corbett Fitzsimmons Jefferies Hart Burns Johnson

Brown. Wow, imagine having all those names in your ID card. Well, I think it’s
quite amazing to have 25 middle names. Let’s hope Autumn will have
a sense of humor with her
name!
Meet Elwood, the Ugliest Dog in the
World
 Believe it or not, what you
see in the picture is a dog. Yeah, I know this is hard to believe.
I first thought it was a character that appears in science fiction movies. Don’t
you think it sort of looks like ET? Well,
the name of this ugly creature is Elwood. It’s
a 2-year-old Chinese Crested and Chihuahua mix that lives in New Jersey.
The special thing about this dog is that it was recently crowned as the world’s
ugliest dog. Karen Quigley, Elwood’s owner is very proud of Elwood.
And she believes he is the cutest animal that ever lived! Two years
ago when Elwood was born in a pet store, the owner was going to kill
him because he was too ugly. But Karen fell in love with him at first sight. Since then, Elwood has been
Karen’s best friend. As a champion of the ugliest dog contest, Elwood
received a prize of 1,000 dollars in cash! I guess being ugly
isn’t so bad sometimes! |
