you guess what bird is in the
photo? Here are some hints. They have short wings. But they are amazingly fast in the sky.
They can fly through a forest full of trees.
How? These birds have so much control of their body. That’s
why there are so many fighter jets named after
this animal. They have very sharp beaks and nails. These are used for
hunting. They are hawks,
the hunters of the sky. There
are about 48 species of hawks in the world.
All hawks love hunting. They catch insects and even small animals.
Hawks nest on really high trees
or cliffs. When they feel another
animal or bird is coming close to their nest, they become very violent. Hawks live as a
family, and they fight to protect the family.
How sensitive are hawks? Here’s
a real life example. In a town
called Moose Jaw in Canada,
two hawks are making the life of postman very difficult. Whenever a postman tries
to deliver a mail, two hawks
come from nowhere to attack.
What’s funny is that the same hawks don’t attack anyone else in the
town. People are guessing that the two hawks think the postman is
a threat. Since May, no postman has
been going to the town of Moose Jaw. The Post Office says it won’t
happen until the birds leave their nest. |
