you guessed, we will talk about a baseball player today. So, who is
that strong looking man in the photo? Here are some hints: He is playing
for a team called Yomiuri Giants in Japan. He was the youngest professional
player in the world to hit 300 home runs! His name
is Lee Seung-yeop!
Lee was born on August 18, 1976. As a little kid, Lee was very athletic. During his university
years, he joined a professional team.
It was the Daegu Samsung Lions. He was a powerful hitter. Soon he was called the Lion
King, because he was playing for the Lions. And he hit so many home
runs. After playing 9 years with the Lions, there was no one better
than Lee. He decided to go to Japan. In
Japan there are many great baseball players. Lee wanted to compete with them. In his
first year, he had a hard time. But after joining the Giants, he got
better and better. Now, he is known as the home run king in Japan.
 Did you
watch the 2008 Summer Olympic Games? It was Lee who helped the Korean
baseball team. Thanks to Lee, the team beat Japan and Cuba. In the
games against Japan and Cuba, Lee hit homeruns. What was the result? We won the gold medal.
Lee says he wants to become the best player in Asia. Why doesn’t he
go the Major Leagues in the U.S.? Lee says he will do that soon, after
