Do you know where Alaska is? It¡¯s the far end of North America. Because it is on the far north, it¡¯s very cold. It¡¯s basically winter time all throughout the year. What is Alaska famous for?
It¡¯s famous for the cold weather and great fish! Yup, there are lots of fish in Alaska, especially salmon. There is a river called Yukon in Alaska. This is where many fishermen catch fresh salmon.

People of Alaska caught so many salmon in the past that sometimes they gave it away. But this year, fishermen in Alaska are in trouble.

Usually around 60,000 salmons are caught around this time of the year. For the first time in 50 years, only a few thousand salmons are being caught. Scientists think it¡¯s because of global warming.
The sea temperatures are rising, and this is causing many salmons to disappear. People in Alaska are now trying to find a way to save the salmons from going extinct. Let¡¯s hope the number of salmons will increase next year in Alaska.
