Don¡¯t you love playing video games? I love them so much. Whether young or old, everyone loves to play fun games. Today, you can see people playing games everywhere. Nowadays Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable (PSP) are very famous among kids. It¡¯s because you can carry them anywhere. Nintendo or PSP aren¡¯t just popular in Korea. They are loved by people all over the world.

I am sure you know these games and consoles are made in Japan. But how come there is no Korean company making games? Well, there is. There is a small Korean company called GamePark. They make a similar console to Nintendo and PSP.

This might be surprising, but the Korean game company¡¯s console has much better technology. The console is called Wiz. You might be asking, ¡°If the console is so good, how come nobody knows it?¡± Let me give you the answer.

You see, Japan has been in the video game business for a very long time - long before most of you were born.
There are thousands of game studios in Japan. In each studio, there are game specialists working hard to come up with new game ideas.
That¡¯s why there are so many fun games for Nintendo and PSP. In Korea, however, there are only 2 very small game studios. That¡¯s very sad because no matter how good Wiz is, there are no games for the console!

Recently, our President asked some businessmen why Korea¡¯s video games can¡¯t compete with Japan. Can you answer his question now? Yes, we have big electronic companies like Samsung and LG. They have beaten Japanese companies like Sony. But sadly, Korea is very new to the video game world. I think in the next 10 years, things will change big time! Since there are so many people who love games, Korean game companies will make more game studios.

So, let¡¯s wait and see. I bet soon enough, Korea¡¯s Wiz will be more famous than Nintendo. Wouldn¡¯t it feel good to see Japanese and American kids wanting Korean-made Wiz for Christmas? That day will come soon! Of course, you guys will be grown ups by then. But hey! We all love games, and age doesn¡¯t matter, right?
