We all know what a dinosaur is. Well, here¡¯s a quiz. What is a pterosaur? Can you take a wild guess? It¡¯s a bit tricky, isn¡¯t it? Ok, here¡¯s the answer.

A pterosaur is a flying reptile. Just like the dinosaurs, pterosaurs are from the Jurassic period. Scientists and archaeologists have found their bones from the past.

However, no one exactly knows how they flew. Recently scientists discovered some landing tracks of these flying reptiles.

The footprints on a limestone were found on a beach in France. It¡¯s about 140 million years old. By studying the footprints, scientists can roughly draw how they flapped their wings during landing and takeoff. Unlike dinosaurs, pterosaurs were very light animals.

So, they didn¡¯t leave many tracks. By studying the footprints, scientists will be able to estimate how they flapped and controlled their wings.
