say a dog is a man’s best friend. Dogs are very loyal and friendly. They are also very
smart. They can do many tricks.
Some dogs are even trained to help people. For example, some dogs help
the blind. In England, there’s
a dog that helps his owner walk! Just take a look at the pictures!
The dog is pulling the man’s wheelchair!
The dog’s name is Kody. He is 3 years old. Kody is his owner Alan
Smith’s best friend. Mr. Smith has used a wheelchair for 15 years.
So it was hard for him to go outside by himself. He usually stayed inside the house with his
wife. One day, they brought home a pet dog named Kody to be
their companion. Since then, the dog has become
more than a friend to Alan. He didn’t train Kody, but the smart dog
started bringing small items like clothes, shoes
and socks to Alan.
Now Kody even takes Alan out for a walk. He is the perfect little motor for Alan’s wheelchair!
“Kody gives me the freedom of a walking man,”
said Mr. Smith. “He is a wonderful friend. He takes
me out for 30 minutes every day.”
